Zakaria voted Borussia's Player of the Month for September

Borussia fans have voted for Denis Zakaria as their Player of the Month for September. The midfielder beat out four of his teammates to take home the award, presented by Cichon Personalmanagement.

Zakaria received 47 per cent of the vote to win the award, presented by Cichon Personalmanagement. He finished ahead of Joe Scally (27%), Lars Stindl (14%), Luca Netz and Patrick Herrmann (both 6%).

Zakaria played the full 90 minutes of all three matches in September, covering a lot of ground and contesting several challenges. He also added his name to the scoresheet against both Arminia Bielefeld (3-1 win) and Borussia Dortmund (1-0). "I'm on the way to getting back to my top form," said Zakaria, who was voted Man of the Match by the fans following the games against both Augsburg and Dortmund.

The voting criteria for our Player of the Month award has changed this season. In previous years, fans were only able to select players that had won at least one Man of the Match award during the preceding month. This season, fans will have the option of also voting for players that impressed during the previous month, either with their performances or through other actions.
