Hofmann and Thuram return to team training

Jonas Hofmann and Marcus Thuram rejoined their teammates on Wednesday morning as The Foals began their preparation for their trip to Fürth on Saturday (15:30 CEST).

The injury problems that Gladbach have faced in recent weeks seem to be finally getting smaller. Ahead of the trip to SpVgg Greuther Fürth on Saturday, Jonas Hofmann, who has missed out recently due to a torn muscle fibre and Marcus Thuram, who has had to overcome muscular problems, were once again able to take part in team training. “They were both able to fully take part in the session and everything went well. This is very pleasing for us and it gives us more options for Saturday,” said Adi Hütter.

Luca Netz (muscular problems) trained individually and Ramy Bensebaini (thigh) completed a few laps. “We hope that we can get Luca back as soon as possible. Ramy picked up a knock in the game against Mainz but there shouldn’t be any problems for him this weekend,” explained the coach. Tony Jantschke (positive Covid test) and Marvin Friedrich (abnormal blood count after Covid) missed out on the session completely. “Tony’s CT value is still too low and Marvin is on the road to recovery but it may take a little while,” said Hütter.

After this weekends’s trip to Sportpark Ronhof, Gladbach have just two more away games to contend with this season. Saturday’s hosts picked up just five points in the first half of the season, but have already picked up eleven since the Winter break. In the build up to the game, Hütter made it clear that there is no room for complacency: “Fürth have improved and have put in some good performances even though their backs are against the wall. They are not to be underestimated, especially as they are playing at home,” warned the gaffer.
