Trio return to squad in time for derby

Luca Netz, Ramy Bensebaini and Tony Jantschke rejoined their teammates as Borussia got their preparation for this Saturday’s clash with Köln (18:30) underway on Tuesday afternoon.

After picking up ten points from their last four league games, the mood inside the Borussia camp is currently very positive. This good run of form has come at the right time for the Foals as they prepare to welcome rivals Köln to BORUSSIA-PARK on Saturday (18:30 CEST). Preparation for the derby got underway on Tuesday afternoon and Adi Hütter’s side appeared to be fully focused on the task in hand. Ramy Bensebaini and Luca Netz, who have both had spells on the sidelines due to muscular problems, and Tony Jantschke, who has been missing due to coronavirus, all returned to the training ground on Tuesday. “It is really pleasing that all three players are back in action,” said Hütter.

Thuram and Friedrich miss out

Despite the positive news, the boss still had to do without Marvin Friedrich (abnormal blood count after Covid infection) and Marcus Thurham, who picked up a slight knock last time out against Fürth. “Tikus picked up a bit of a knock and we’re looking to have him back for the weekend. Marvin unfortunately still has problems. We’re hoping that he can once again take part sometime next week,” said the boss.

Continuing the good run

Saturday will be Hütter’s first home derby against Köln and he is looking forward to the challenge: “We are all aware of how much this fixture means to the fans,” said the gaffer. He continued: “We will do everything this weekend to try and continue our good run. Köln are also in good form so it has all the makings of a thrilling derby in front of a packed crowd.”
