Elvedi suspended for two games due to red card

Nico Elvedi will miss the Foals’ last two Bundesliga matches this season. The Swiss international defender has been banned for two games following his red card in Borussia’s Monday night win at home to RB Leipzig.

The sporting court of the German FA (DFB) has suspended Nico Elvedi from the final two league games of the season. This comes following a tribunal resulting from an indictment by the DFB’s control board, for unsportsmanlike conduct. The Swiss was shown a straight red card by referee Martin Petersen in the 64th minute of Borussia Mönchengladbach’s home game on Monday night against RB Leipzig, for a professional foul (last man) against Dani Olmo.

The judgement is legally binding

The ban means Elvedi will miss the final two Bundesliga games this season, this Sunday away to Eintracht Frankfurt (15:30 CEST), and the following Saturday at home to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (15:30 CEST). In addition, central defender Elvedi is also suspended for all other competitive matches the Foals may play over the duration of the ban. The Club has not appealed the decision; therefore, it is legally binding.
