Hütter: “We must be prepared for anything”

Head coach Adi Hütter spoke to the media ahead of Sunday’s trip to Eintracht Frankfurt (15:30 CEST). Here are the most important bits:

Adi Hütter on...

…the state of the squad: We’re going to have to make at least two changes. Manu Koné and Nico Elvedi are both suspended. Christoph Kramer didn’t train on Friday and isn’t an option for Sunday, Marcus Thuram is expected to be able to take part in team training next week. Marvin Friedrich is available for selection.

…how Eintracht might line up after progressing to the Europa League final: The question is how will Oliver Glasner react. One can only speculate. I think Frankfurt will have one eye on the final. That is completely normal because if you win the Europa League, you are guaranteed a spot in the Champions League. That’s why I think they will rotate. On the other hand, he is also a coach who likes to maintain the dynamics of his team. We must be prepared for anything.

…congratulating Eintracht: I congratulated Oliver Glasner and Kevin Trapp after the game. You of course stay in contact with the people at your former clubs. That’s why I am happy for the club and for the fans. It’s good for German football that Eintracht are into the Europa League final.

…how his side will approach the last two games of the season: We still have the chance to finish inside the top ten, which would be a good achievement considering it has been a disappointing season.  For that, we have to win the last two games. We want to carry on our good form and try to beat Frankfurt.

…the fight and desire his team showed in the Leipzig game: I think that has to be a minimum requirement. You don’t always get off to a flying start in a game and in that case, you have to show the fight and desire that we did against Leipzig. You have to be compact and unpleasant to play against in order to do that. We have to defend our goal the best we can. That isn’t just for the game against Leipzig, but something we need to take into the future.

Adi Hütter: "We still have the chance to finish inside the top ten."
