Patrick Herrmann extends his contract until 2024

Patrick Herrmann has extended his contract with Borussia until June 2024, with his previous deal set to run out in summer 2022. The 31-year-old attacker joined the Borussia U19s in 2008 from 1. FC Saarbrücken, and has now extended his contract by a further two years.

“Patrick has amassed a lot of experience over his nearly 400 competitive appearances for the first team, and is a role model for all our academy players, having made the leap from the FohlenStall to the Bundesliga,” said sporting director Roland Virkus. “For 14 years now, he has always given everything for the team and his club, and has also proven this season that he can use his talents to help the team. We’re pleased to have reached an agreement to continue working together in the future.”

“I’m very happy to be able to spend two more years at the best club in the world and am already looking forward to next season,” said Herrmann, who has scored 55 goals in 388 competitive games for the Foals. “I feel very at home here and am incredibly proud to have played here for so long. Borussia will always be my club.”

Herrmann made his Bundesliga debut on 16th January 2010, coming off the bench in the 79th minute. Just moments after being subbed on, he was involved in setting up Borussia’s only goal in a 2-1defeat to VfL Bochum. He has since appeared in 321 Bundesliga games (46 goals, 56 assists), and is sixth in the club’s all-time appearance rankings. Herrmann has made the 12th-most top-flight appearances of all active players currently in the division. He has also featured in 31 DFB-Pokal games (4 goals, 5 assists), 25 Europa League matches (5 goals, 5 assists) and 11 Champions League games for the Foals.
