Borussia and Puma extend their partnership

Making history together! Borussia Mönchengladbach and kit supplier PUMA have made an early, long-term extension to their partnership. The Herzogenaurach-based sports kit makers have supplied the Foals since 2018, but have also shared a long and special history together.

“You could really feel the happiness back in 2018 when it was announced that PUMA would be our kit providers once again. To be able to extend our partnership with PUMA early and for the long term has brought that joy back once again,” said chief executive Stephan Schippers. “Our club has celebrated a long and successful history alongside PUMA – the two simply belong together.”

“PUMA and Borussia Mönchengladbach have had a historic and memorable history together, which we have continued since 2018,” said PUMA’s CEO Bjørn Gulden. “We are delighted to stand alongside the club as partners for the coming years, experiencing special moments on the pitch together and delivering products which excite the fans.”

PUMA were Borussia’s boot provider from the 1966/67 season, before the company provided kits and training wear for the Foals during the successful 1970s. The PUMA name appeared for the first time on a Borussia kit in their 1977 European Cup final against Liverpool, and the famous logo, was printed on every Borussia kit from then until 1992.

2018 saw PUMA return to BORUSSIA-PARK as kit provider, with the motto: “Glad to be Back”, and since then have created pieces which transport the club’s DNA, with a mix of tradition and modern elements.

“Our partnership with PUMA is an especially emotional one, as a result of the history we have shared – both for the club and the fans,” said Guido Uhle, Borussia’s director of sponsoring. “We are proud to have a global brand like PUMA by our side. The fact that we have been able to extend our partnership for the long term gives us security to plan for a successful future together.” The motto of this contract extension: Making history together!
