Andreas Poulsen joins Aalborg BK

Andreas Poulsen will leave Borussia after four years to return to his native Denmark, where the 22-year-old left-back will join first-division side Aalborg BK.

“Unfortunately, both sides had expected more from Andi’s time at Borussia. I hope that his career will get back on track in Aalborg and that he will be able to live up to his potential,” said Roland Virkus, Borussia’s sporting director. Poulsen joined Borussia in summer 2018 from Midtjylland. He made his first and only competitive appearance for the Foals in the first round of the DFB-Pokal against BSC Hastedt (11-1 win) in the 2018/19 season. The left-back then went on to feature 23 times for Borussia’s U23s in the Regionalliga.

Poulsen was loaned to Austria Vienna for six months in January 2020. Due to an injury, the Dane was unable to feature in the final games of the season and returned to Gladbach at the end of his loan spell. He then returned to Vienna on another six-month loan spell in February 2021, before joining Ingolstadt on loan in the 2. Bundesliga for the 2021/22 season. Poulsen made six league appearances for the side (1 goal), as well as featuring twice in the Bayernliga Süd.

The club would like to wish Andreas Poulsen all the best for the future!
