The Foals complete first training session in Tegernsee

The Foals’ training camp in Tegernsee is officially underway after a swift two hour session on Monday morning. Ko Itakura trained for the first time as a Gladbach player.

At around 9:30am on Monday morning, the Gladbach players took to the training ground of FC Rottach-Egern to officially begin their summer training camp. They started off with an intensive warm-up programme in front of the many VfL fans that were in attendance. Head coach Daniel Farke then had his team take part in different exercises with the ball, including a mini-tournament on a smaller pitch. “We have a great set-up here. It is great to experience the positivity of the fans that have made the trip. We want to soak up the atmosphere and take this experience with us,” said Farke. “We started off yesterday with a light regeneration session after our arrival. Today we have completed the first proper session on the training ground. We will work very hard here this week,” he continued.

Ko Itakura, who recently signed from Manchester City, took to the training ground for the first time as a Gladbach player. “We have two great new additions in Ko and Oscar Fraulo. Some of the players from the youth academy will also get the chance to prove themselves for the first time in this camp. Those responsible at the club can be proud of the team that they have put together here, not just with regards to the players, but also the staff,” said the gaffer.

Manu Koné and Jacob Italiano, however, could not take part in the session. Koné is suffering from an impact trauma to the knee, whereas Italiano had to miss out due to slight muscle injury in the thigh. Rocco Reitz could not travel to the training camp due to illness.

There will also be a conditioning session later in the day, which will take place in a sports hall in Rottach-Egern.
