Christoph Kramer is Borussia’s player of the month for September

Christoph Kramer has been voted Borussia’s player of the month for September. The midfielder saw off competition from three teammates for the award presented by Cichon Personalmanagement.

Christoph Kramer is September’s player of the month after receiving around 61% of fans’ votes in the FohlenApp. In second place came Yann Sommer (20%), followed by Jonas Hofmann (14%) and Ramy Bensebaini (5%).

Kramer demonstrated his versatility in September, operating in three different positions and impressing equally as much in all of them. After playing in his usual role in defensive midfield in the 1-0 win over Mainz, he switched to attacking midfield for the 3-0 victory against Leipzig. “I’m actually originally a 10 – that’s where I played as a youth player. I like taking on new roles; I enjoy it. It’s always a new challenge, so I really enjoyed playing a bit further forward again,” said Kramer.

In between those two victories, Kramer also lined up as a centre back against Freiburg. The 31-year-old had the most touches (108) and passes (93) and also won 66% of duels. “I was planning on only moving into defence when I was around 36 or 37, but I’ve done it earlier now and can confirm that it’s less running than in midfield,” said Kramer with a wink. His impressive performance was recognised by the fans too, who voted him player of the match with 35% of all votes..
