“A point gained” - #WOBBMG match reaction

We heard from Yann Sommer and the two coaches following Borussia’s 2-2 draw with VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday afternoon.

Yann Sommer: It’s a point gained for us when you look at how the game went. Today definitely wasn’t our best performance. Wolfsburg caused us serious problems out wide. They created a lot of pressure and pressed us well. It wasn’t easy to keep the ball in our build-up play. We did well in parts of the game and knocked it about nicely, but our final ball was often too sloppy and we couldn’t create more chances. A point is definitely a good result in Wolfsburg.

Daniel Farke: Today we saw a really good game of football between two strong teams. It was a good advert for the Bundesliga. However, as coach of the team to go ahead twice, I would only truly be happy if we’d won the game. Nevertheless, I think the result was fair and we deserved to draw the game. We started well and went ahead after a brilliant piece of work by Marcus. We controlled the game after that and didn’t allow them many chances. Later on though, we were too passive with the ball and then without it too. Wolfsburg fought back and deserved to equalise. We responded at the start of the second half and went ahead again. Our passing wasn’t good enough overall today. Marmoush made it 2-2 with a fantastic goal for them. Wolfsburg are a really good team and played at a high intensity. Both teams wanted to win and had chances to do so at the end. It’s a good point to collect away to a really strong side.

VfL Wolfsburg head coach Niko Kovac: I also think it was a really good game. Both teams tried to win today. My team performed really well. We were decent without the ball, but our play with it was the best I’ve seen from us this season. We created a number of chances and hit the woodwork twice. We’re on the right track, but simply couldn’t get the win in the end. I think we would have been better value for the win due to the chances we had, but Borussia are a really good team and aren’t where they are in the table by chance.

Daniel Farke: "It’s a good point to collect away to a really strong side"
