Nearly a full squad as preparations for Hertha begin

The Foals began preparations for Sunday’s trip to Berlin with a 90-minute session on Wednesday afternoon. Julian Weigl was the only player to not take part in team training.

Head coach Daniel Farke had nearly a full squad to work with on Wednesday afternoon, with the exception of Julian Weigl, who completed a running session. “Jule had some minor adductor issues after the game against Schalke. He had played a lot lately and invested a lot in those games. Because he will miss our next league game, we didn’t want to take any risks and had him do a recovery session today,” explained Farke. Weigl will miss the match against Hertha BSC in order to serve a suspension for picking up his fifth yellow card of the season. “I think that Jule will be fit for tomorrow’s team session again,” Farke said.

When asked about the 0-0 draw against Schalke last weekend, Farke commented: “Of course we wanted to win the game and deliver a better performance. We weren’t satisfied with the result. The next day we immediately set about analysing the game with the team.” Farke and his staff have been working on getting the team prepared for their next challenge, saying “The game against Hertha BSC has our full focus now.”

The Foals will have four more training sessions before travelling to Berlin, with the public welcome to attend training on Thursday (11:15 CET) and Friday (10:45 CET).

Julian Weigl completed a running session today.
