Additional game ban and fine for Bensebaini

The German Football Association (DFB) have given Borussia’s left-back Ramy Bensebaini an additional one game ban and a fine of €15,000 for insulting a referee.

This suspension is on top of the automatic one game ban triggered by his sending off last Saturday in the Bundesliga home game against SC Freiburg. As a result, the 27-year-old will miss both the Foals’ away game against RB Leipzig on Saturday, as well as the subsequent home game on Friday, 17th March (20:30 CET) against SV Werder Bremen.

Bensebaini was sent off by referee Benjamin Brand in the 87th minute of the game against Freiburg. ”Initially he kicked the hoardings by the side of the pitch with full force before then verbally assaulting the referee,” said the ruling.

Borussia have agreed with the ruling, so it comes into force immediately.
