Three Borussia players celebrate wins with their national sides

All three Borussia players who were in action with their national teams on Monday were able to celebrate victories. Marcus Thuram and France beat Ireland, Ramy Bensebaini and Niger came out on top against Niger and Joe Scally and the USA defeated El Salvador.

FRANCE

The France national team have started their European Championship qualification perfectly, following up their 4-0 win against Netherlands with a 1-0 win against Ireland yesterday evening. Marcus Thuram was substituted on in injury time and made his tenth international appearance. Benjamin Pavard scored the winner for the World Cup runners-up in the 50th minute. France will continue their European Championship qualifying campaign on 16th June against Gibraltar and then on 19th June against Greece.

ALGERIA

Ramy Bensebaini (Photo: imago/MB solutions) has already qualified for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations with the Algerian national team. The “Desert Foxes” beat Niger 1-0, which means they have secured first place in Group F after their fourth win. Bensebaini played the full 90 minutes in central defence in the game against Niger, and Baghdad Bounedjah scored the only goal of the game in the sixth minute. Algeria’s final two matches are against Uganda on 12th June and Tanzania on 4th September.

USA

The America national team have qualified for the semi-final of the CONCACAF Nations League after their 1-0 win in the last group match against El Salvador. Joe Scally, who played for the whole of the 7-1 thrashing of Granada, spent this match on the bench. Ricardo Pepi (62’) scored the winning goal. The USA’s semi-final opponent has not yet been decided.
