Plea absent from training, Kramer and Borges Sanches return

The Foals began preparations for Sunday’s home game against Union Berlin (19:30 CEST) on Wednesday afternoon. Missing from today’s session was Alassane Plea.

Head coach Daniel Farke was able to welcome Yvandro Borges Sanches back to training today, with the winger able to complete parts of team training after returning from an ankle injury. Plea, meanwhile, missed training due to illness. “Lasso has tonsillitis. That’s why we need to isolate him from the other players for a bit. We will need to wait and see how the next 48 hours go for him,” said Farke.

After rolling his ankle against Frankfurt last weekend, Nico Elvedi trained individually today. “Nico has sprained his ligaments. It looks as though he will be able to return on Friday though, at the latest. I don’t expect him to be unavailable for the weekend,” said the head coach. Christoph Kramer, who injured his back during the final training session ahead of the Frankfurt match, was able to complete parts of today’s session with the team. “Chris only completed parts of training today. But, things looked good and I think that he’ll be available again this weekend,” Farke said. Ramy Bensebaini suffered a neck strain on the weekend, but was able to train with no further complications.

The Foals will be back on the training pitch on Thursday and Friday (both sessions at 10:45 CEST). They will also have a fitness session on Thursday (15:45 CEST), with the final training session ahead of Sunday’s game against Union taking place behind closed doors.
