Assistant coach Oliver Neuville extends his contract at Borussia

Oliver Neuville will remain a first team assistant coach for the Foals beyond this current season. The 49-year-old has extended his contract with Borussia for a further two years until the summer of 2025.

“Olli has proven to be an asset to the coaching staff over the last few years and has come to the fore in our daily work. Alongside his language ability, he has an enormous wealth of experience and footballing expertise. He enjoys the highest standing among the players,” said sporting director Roland Virkus. “He is one of the faces of Borussia, so we are happy to have him on board in the future.”

Oliver Neuville said: “I love being close to the team, feeling the pitch under my shoes and being able to show the boys things with the ball. Being able to do that at Borussia is all the more special and I am grateful for this. The club has become kind of a second family for me.”

Neuville has worked as an assistant coach to the Borussia first team since the 2019/20 season. Before this, he was assistant coach of Borussia U19s for seven years. During his playing career in the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga, he spent six seasons at Borussia (2004 until 2010), playing 161 games for the Foals during which he scored 42 goals and picked up a further 31 assists.
