Looking for Borussia’s Player of the Month for April

Jonas Omlin, Nathan Ngoumou and Julian Weigl have been nominated for Borussia’s Player of the Month award for April, presented by Cichon Personalmanagement. Fans can vote for their favourite via the FohlenApp.

Three players are in the running to become Borussia’s Player of the Month in April! The Foals went unbeaten in the derby against 1. FC Köln (0-0), at home against VfL Wolfsburg (2-0) and at Eintracht Frankfurt (1-1), before this run ended with a 1-0 defeat to Union Berlin and a 2-1 loss against VfB Stuttgart. Fans can vote for their choice for April’s Player of the Month in the ‘Poll’ tab in the FohlenApp, with voting open until 23:59 CEST on Thursday, 4th May.

Jonas Omlin: The goalkeeper was voted Man of the Match four times by the Borussia faithful in April, for his performances against Köln, Frankfurt, Union and Stuttgart. He made several key saves in the derby and was selected in sports daily Kicker’s Team of the Week as a result. The Swiss shot-stopper kept his third clean sheet of the season in the victory against Wolfsburg, before helping the Foals to a point in Frankfurt. Despite the defeats against Union and Stuttgart, the 29-year-old was still able to deliver strong performances between the sticks.

Nathan Ngoumou: The Frenchman netted his first competitive goal for Borussia against VfL Wolfsburg and was subsequently selected as the Man of the Match by the fans, winning 61% of the vote. “I’m very happy that I was finally able to score a goal for Borussia. It feels really good,” the 23-year-old said at the time.

Julian Weigl: The midfielder made his comeback from injury in Frankfurt after nearly two months on the sidelines following a partial rupture of his syndesmosis ligament. He completed 88% of his passes against the Eagles, won 83.3% of his duels and covered 12.2 kilometres – more than any other Borussia player. “You could see how much we had been missing Jule over the last weeks. We were a lot more dominant and precise on the ball with him,” praised head coach Daniel Farke. Weigl also scored his first competitive goal for the Foals in April, putting the Foals back on level terms in Stuttgart from the penalty spot.
