Borussia sign Franck Honorat from Brest

The 26-year-old winger has signed on a deal until 2028.

“Franck is a player who can be utilised on both wings, he’s fast, he can score goals and also pick up assists. We have been following his path for quite some time and we are pleased that he wanted to join us, despite other offers,” explained sporting director Roland Virkus.

Honorat developed in the youth academies of his native Toulon and US Sanaryenne, before joining Nice, where he made his professional debut in Ligue 1 in November 2013. The 1.80 metre forward played 19 league games for Nice before being loaned to second division club FC Sochaux for the 2016/17 season, where he scored 1 goal and picked up 3 assists in 29 appearances. Honorat then joined the then second tier side Clermont, where he made 35 appearances (3 goals, 9 assists) in the league.

The Frenchman joined Saint-Étienne for the 2018/19 season but was loaned straight back to Clermont. He scored 4 goals and made 10 assists in 35 league games that season and also scored 3 goals in 3 Coupe de France appearances. He then returned to Saint-Étienne at the end of his loan spell and appeared 12 times in the league for the Ligue 1 side during the 2019/20 season. He also featured twice in the Europa League.

He then joined Brest for the 2020/21 season and scored 8 goals and picked up 5 assists in 36 league appearances that campaign. The following year he built upon his good performances, scoring 11 goals and making 6 assists in 34 Ligue 1 appearances. Last season, he featured 33 times for the club in the league (6 goals, 5 assists).

Franck Honorat also played for the France national team from the U16s to the U19s, scoring one goal in 9 appearances.

Franck Honorat has signed for the Foals with immediate effect.
