#BSBBMG match reaction

After the 7-0 win over TuS Bersenbrück in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, we gathered the reactions of Robin Hack, Julian Weigl, Tomáš Čvančara and Gerardo Seoane.

Robin Hack: Overall we can be satisfied with the game. The first 10, 15 minutes weren’t as sparkling. The opponents could have taken the lead, but we improved after the first goal, and from then on we played well until the end. The opponents played courageous football, kept their heads held high after 5-0 and pressed us bravely. Bersenbrück deserve great respect for that. That obviously gave us a lot of space that we used well. Because of this, I think we deserved the margin of victory.

Julian Weigl: How Bersenbrück approached the game didn’t surprise us. We couldn’t be satisfied with the first 15 to 20 minutes, as we were always a yard off the pace. But after the first goal we played freely and used the space better. We’re happy to go into the first Bundesliga game with a winning feeling.

Tomas Cvancara: It’s a good result for us as a team to have scored seven goals and kept a clean sheet. To be honest, I’m not completely happy with my own performance. The reason is simple: I had three other chances that the lads set me up well for, but I didn’t take them. We can improve, but it’s a solid start.

Gerardo Seoane: It was a brilliant evening of football – a full stadium, a great atmosphere, lots of chances and lots of goals. We needed a little time to get going, find our game and offer a threat. I think that we used the wings really well and got at their backline. Our opponents were lacking the energy at times, and that opened up spaces for us. We created a lot in front of goal and converted a good amount of our chances, although there were some we didn’t take. Credit to our opponent, not just for their work rate, but also the quality they showed on the night. They played courageous football and we weren’t physical enough at times. We still have a lot of work ahead of us.
