Semir Telalovic completes transfer to Blackburn Rovers

Semir Telalovic is leaving Borussia after one and a half years at the club and will join English Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

“We signed Semir from the fourth division because we saw a lot of potential in him as a player, and his development up until his Bundesliga debut showed that we were right,” said Roland Virkus, Borussia’s managing director for sport. “We agreed to his transfer so that he could get the game time he was asking for at a professional level. We wish him all the best for his future.”

The German-Bosnian striker signed for the club’s U23s in January 2022 from Regionalliga Bayern side FV Illertissen and scored six times in 18 games in the second half of the 2021/22 season in the Regionalliga West. The 23-year-old made 30 appearances for Borussia’s U23s and bagged 15 goals last season, celebrating his Bundesliga debut with the first team on matchday 17 away to FC Augsburg. He then made two further cameo appearances against RB Leipzig and VfB Stuttgart. In the current season, Semir has played in two Regionalliga matches for the U23s and scored one goal.
