Čvančara wins his third international cap
Several Foals appeared in their first international game of the new season on Thursday evening. The only one involved in competitive action was striker Tomáš Čvančara.
Czechia
TomášČvančara (photo; imago images: Zuma Wire) made his third senior appearance for Czechia last night. The hosts drew 1-1 with second-placed Albania in a European Championship qualifying Group E encounter. The Borussia forward was named in the starting eleven and played 86 minutes. Vaclav Cerny put the home side ahead in the 56th minute, while Nedim Bajrami equalised ten minutes later. Czechia remain top of the group with eight points, just ahead of Albania (7) and Poland (6).
Austria
Max Wöber did not appear in Austria’s friendly game against Moldova, which ended 1-1. The defender watched from the bench as Vitalie Damascan put the visitors ahead early in the third minute. Shortly after the break in the 50th minute, Michael Gregoritsch earned his side a 1-1 draw.
Germany U20
Lukas Ullrich’s Germany U20 side drew 1-1 in a friendly against Italy. In the 58th minute, Christian Volpato cancelled out Marius Wörl’s opener on the stroke of half time.
Italy U19
Fabio Chiarodia’s Italy U19 team defeated Northern Ireland 3-2 in a friendly, with Borussia’s full-back leading the side out as captain. Bolzan in the 2nd, Parravicini in the 21st and Franzoni in the 39th minute struck for the hosts, while Evans scored both goals for Northern Ireland in the 9th and 22nd minute.
Germany U19
Simon Walde made his debut for the Germany U19 side, with the full-back coming on at half time of the 1-0 win over England in Oliva Nova, Spain. Mert Kömür scored the winning goal in the 18th minute.
