Čvančara absent from training

The Foals started gearing up for Saturday’s home game against RB Leipzig (15:30 CEST) with a training session on Tuesday morning, which Tomáš Čvančara missed due to injury.

On Tuesday, head coach Gerardo Seoane split the Gladbach squad into three groups for their first training session of the week. The Foals who played for more than 60 minutes on Sunday only did recovery work and strength training. Those who played for 45 minutes had a short training session, while all other players were in full training.

Jan Olschowsky and Patrick Herrmann trained with the third group after recovering from illness, as did Manu Koné and Christoph Kramer, who will both return to full team training this week for the first time following their injuries. “We’ll have to wait and see how they cope with training at a higher intensity. If everything goes well, they’ll be in the squad at the weekend,” said Seoane. There are still question marks looming over Tomáš Čvančara’s fitness after he bruised his thigh in the game against Darmstadt. “It’ll be a close call. We don’t want to take any risks at all with his injury.”

No other Gladbach players were injured in the Darmstadt game apart from the Czech. The Foals have another public training session at 10:30 CEST on Wednesday, with Thursday’s and Friday’s sessions taking place behind closed doors. Gladbach take on RB Leipzig at the BORUSSIA-PARK on Saturday at 15:30 CEST.

Jan Olschowsky is back in team training.
