Nico Elvedi extends his contract at Borussia until 2027

Borussia Mönchengladbach have extended Nico Elvedi’s contract until 30th June 2027. His current deal was due to expire in 2024.

“Nico is one of the most experienced players in our squad and has been a reliable member of our team for a number of years now,” said Roland Virkus, managing director for sport. “We’re really pleased that the open and honest conversations with Nico over the past few months have now resulted in a contract extension. This says a lot about his character and his connection to Borussia.”

Nico Elvedi commented: “I got my chance as a 19-year-old here and managed to develop into an established Bundesliga and national team player with this club. I now want to lead from the front as we continue our rebuild.”

Nico Elvedi arrived at Borussia as an 18-year-old from FC Zürich in summer 2015. He quickly became a regular starter in his first season with the Foals, making 21 appearances in the Bundesliga, two in the Champions League and one in the DFB-Pokal. Over the following years, the Swiss established himself as a linchpin in the Borussia defence.

Elvedi has since featured a total of 272 times in all competitions for Gladbach (232x Bundesliga, 18x DFB-Pokal, 17x Champions League, 5x Europa League), scoring 14 goals. The Zurich-born centre-back has also developed into a Switzerland international during his time at the club, winning 48 senior caps (1 goal) for his country to date.
