#BMGFCH: Match reaction

After the Foals 3-1 DFB-Pokal win over 1. FC Heidenheim, we have the reactions of Robin Hack and Jordan, as well as both head coaches Gerardo Seoane and Frank Schmidt.

Robin Hack: It definitely took a lot of the pressure off that we took our first two chances and started the game so well. I’m also pleased with our defensive performance today. We conceded hardly any chances and were very compact. I’m happy that I could help the team with my goal. I’m even more pleased that it was also a header, which I very rarely score from.

Jordan: Of course, for me as a striker it’s important to score goals and I’m happy to have played my part in the win today. But I’d like to take this opportunity to praise my teammates who gave me these chances in the first place. The team’s cohesion was generally super and everyone fought for their teammates. We can be pleased with the performance today, but the focus is now on the next Bundesliga game in Freiburg.

Head coach Gerardo Seoane: The good start of course extremely played into our hands. Two early goals obviously gave us more confidence. The spectators also created a good atmosphere and that gave the team a lot of energy. We felt very happy in the first half. After being 3-0 up at half time, it was clear that it wasn’t going to be exactly the same in the second period. We held on a bit more then. But it’s important that we’re into the next round of the Pokal.

Head coach Frank Schmidt (1. FC Heidenheim): You can’t perform like we did in the first half. We had planned a lot for the game. I had strongly believed that we’d have a better match here and get into the next round of the Pokal. That belief was gone by half time, because Gladbach had taken advantage of our mistakes ruthlessly. In the second half, Gladbach just did what they had to do, which made us look a little bit better.
