Seoane ahead of #SCFBMG: "We’re happy to have such depth"

Head coach Gerardo Seoane answered questions from the journalists in the pre-match press conference prior to the away clash against SC Freiburg on Saturday (15:30). Here are his most important quotes.

...the squad situation: Aside from Manu Koné, who will be missing due to his red card suspension, there have been no changes in who's available since the Pokal game.

...the preparation for the upcoming clash: Every team have their own personnel and structure. Also, we're away from home this time, which affects the style of play. We're using the remaining time to prepare for our next opponents in the best way possible.

…the coming opponents:  Freiburg are a challenge to play against for any team, whether at home or away. Of course they're strong at home, as they're very connected with the supporters. We're expecting a team who work together and are well-drilled. Freiburg have been with their coach for a long time. They're a team who try to play tidy football, always have a clear plan of action, and are both disciplined and compact when defending.

...a possible return to the starting XI for Franck Honorat: Robin Hack and Nathan Ngoumou did very well on the wings in the Pokal game. Franck Honorat has different strengths, but has also done well previously. We're happy to have such depth in these positions and that they each bring their different strengths to the table.

...the competition in attack: Jordan is a bit more experienced and already knows the Bundesliga. Tomáš Čvančara is a young player and new to the Bundesliga. His development needs time, so we have to have a bit of patience with him. Tomáš is also lacking a bit of rhythm from training because of various injuries in the last few weeks. Jordan got his chance and took it, which will obviously play a role. That doesn't mean that Tomáš is far away. We firmly believe in him.

…the Foals’ success from corners: A third of all goals come from set pieces. This means that every team tries to prepare certain patterns of play, but not all of our goals from set pieces have been rehearsed. It always comes down to the quality of the delivery and the players’ ability to get the ball into the box with a certain conviction and technical quality. Then, you also need a good number of physically strong players who can get on the end of the ball with perfect timing.
