Yvandro Borges Sanches extends contract with Borussia and moves to NEC Nijmegen on loan

Attacker Yvandro Borges Sanches has extended his contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach by a year until 30th June 2026 and will move to Eredivisie side NEC Nijmegen on a six-month loan deal.

“Yvandro is a young, talented player who has become a Luxembourg international since joining the club. However, it’s imperative for his development that he gets as much gametime as possible at a high level. His style of play means that he’ll be able to find his feet quickly in the Netherlands and improve as much as possible,” said Gladbach’s managing director for sport, Roland Virkus. “We’re really happy that Yvandro has opted to extend his contract with us until 2026. It shows that he can see a future with the club.”

Yvandro Borges Sanches moved to Gladbach in the summer of 2020 from Racing FC Union Luxemburg. The attacker played for the Foals at U17, U19 and U23 level before making his debut for the senior side in the first round of the 2022/23 DFB-Pokal against SV Oberachern. The Luxembourg international played twice in the DFB-Pokal and three times in the Bundesliga last season, but has only made a few brief cameos off the bench in the league so far this season.

Borges Sanches played three games for his country at U15/16 level and made an appearance for the U21 side before playing for the Luxembourg senior team for the first time in September 2021 in a World Cup qualifier against Serbia. He also started in the next game, a friendly against Qatar, and scored the opener in the 1-1 draw. The 19-year-old has 23 international caps and three goals to his name.

“I’m glad that I’ve extended my contract with Gladbach by another year. I’m also happy with the loan move. I’m aiming to come back to Mönchengladbach in six months’ time after improving my game in Nijmegen,” said Borges Sanches.
