SPECTATORS:

• The match at the BayArena (capacity: 30,200) is sold out. Around 3,000 Borussia fans are expected to be in attendance to support the Foals.

HEAD-TO-HEAD:

• This will be the 84th meeting in the Bundesliga between Leverkusen and Mönchengladbach. The Werkself have won 34 of these encounters, with the Foals triumphing on 22 occasions (D27).
• The Werkself have won seven of their last eight Bundesliga matches against Borussia. The two teams drew 2-2 the last time they met at the BayArena in May 2023.
• It’s been nearly 20 years since a match involving Borussia and Bayer 04 has ended goalless (most recently on 3rd April 2004).

• After starting the year with a 3-1 win against VfB Stuttgart. Borussia fell to a 2-1 defeat against FC Augsburg last time out. The Foals are therefore still waiting to record back-to-back wins in the Bundesliga this season. Spanning multiple campaigns, the last time Gladbach managed this was in mid 2022, while they last won consecutive league fixtures in the same campaign in March 2022.
• Both teams have scored 12 goals from set pieces this season - a joint league best. Borussia have scored the most goals from corners of any side in 2023/24 (9).
• The Foals have taken the most shots from counter attacks in the Bundesliga this season (32, 6 goals scored). Leverkusen are third in this ranking (31 shots), but have scored eight goals on the break.
• VfL head coach Gerardo Seoane is set to return to Leverkusen for the first time since parting ways with the club on 5th October 2022. The Swissman enjoyed a successful start to life at the Werkself, guiding the team to a third-place finish in 2021/22 and ending the season on 80 goals - a new club record in the Bundesliga.
• The Foals are winless in their last seven fixtures at primetime on a Saturday night (D2, L5). Their last win at 18:30 CET on a Saturday came in September 2022 at home against RB Leipzig (3-0). Current Werkself player Jonas Hofmann netted a brace for the Foals back then.
• Bayer striker Patrik Schick is set to make his 100th appearance in the Bundesliga and is on the cusp of netting his 50th goal in the division. He’s found the back of the net once in each of his previous four matches against Mönchengladbach.
• Jonas Hofmann moved from Mönchengladbach to Leverkusen in summer 2023 after seven and half years with the Foals (184 Bundesliga games, 40 goals). He netted 12 goals for Borussia in both 2021/22 and 2022/23. This term, he’s found the back of the net five times and has provided eight assists.
