#RBLBMG: Match reaction

Following the 2-0 loss away at RB Leipzig, we got the reactions of Rocco Reitz, Nico Elvedi, Julian Weigl and the two head coaches Gerardo Seoane and Marco Rose.

Rocco Reitz: We kept things tight in our defensive shape, but we were often a bit too passive and played too hectically going forwards. Overall, we create too few creates – it’s then difficult to score a goal. It’s totally understandable that the atmosphere in the stadium was so subdued. The news regarding the two deaths is awful. The team’s thoughts are with their families and friends.

Nico Elvedi: Above all, we weren’t threatening enough in attack in the first half. We got forward well to some extent, but the necessary consistency was lacking with the final pass. We should’ve defended their early goal better. In the end, we deserved to lose 2-0.

Julian Weigl: We gave Leipzig too many chances. Admittedly, we tried to be brave and get forward earlier, but the right balance wasn’t always there. I think that we did a bit better with the ball in the second half. We were braver and had more confidence in ourselves, but we weren’t clinical enough.

Head coach Gerardo Seoane: We’re disappointed with the result. My team approached the game well in phases and there were also positive signs in our play. Similarly, there were also some things that we need to improve because they have a big influence on the result. For example, our assertiveness – we can assert ourselves against the opposition and win our individual duels. Additionally, we lacked cutting edge in attack. We were untidy and weren't accurate enough with our shooting.

Head coach Marco Rose (RB Leipzig): It wasn’t an easy game for everyone involved due to the two deaths. I think that it was a deserved win and a very clear and consistent performance from us overall. We didn’t give a lot away, but Gladbach still caused us a few problems. We had lots of chances and scored great goals. We’ve defended really fiercely in an intense week and ended up keeping a clean sheet.
