Focus turns to the upcoming Rhine Derby

On Tuesday morning, Borussia began their preparations for the upcoming Bundesliga clash against 1. FC Köln. All of the Foals were in attendance, with the exception of Tomáš Čvančara und Alassane Plea.

Head coach Gerardo Seoane chose to not spend too long dwelling on last weekend's 1-1 draw against Mainz. “There are some positives to take from the game, but there are also certain areas which need working on. We therefore have mixed feelings surrounding the match, and are now turning our focus onto this coming Saturday,” explained the 45-year-old, who kicked off the preparations for the Rhine Derby with his team on Tuesday morning.

The tension is beginning to rise in Mönchengladbach ahead of the fixture on matchday 25, although there are still a few days until the Foals will welcome Köln to BORUSSIA-PARK. “The game is important for more than one reason,” Seoane remarked. “On the one hand, we need the three points. However, we’re also aware of the importance of the derby with regards to the emotions that surround it. This is a special game, and we’re very excited about it.”

Čvančara and Plea still absent

Aside from Tomáš Čvančara (ankle ligament tear) and Alassane Plea (bruised foot), who are continuing to work on their respective rehabilitation programmes, all the Foals were present for the first session of the week.

Borussia’s next training session will take place behind closed doors at 11:00 CET on Wednesday, and the boys will welcome fans to Thursday’s session at the same time the following day. The final preparations for the derby will be carried out behind closed doors on Friday (11:00 CET).
