Match facts ahead of #BMGKOE

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the Foals’ derby match at home to 1. FC Köln on Saturday (15:30 CET).

HEAD-TO-HEAD

  • Borussia and 1. FC Köln have faced each other 98 times in the Bundesliga. The Foals have the better head-to-head record, having won 52 of those games compared to the Billy Goats’ 28. There have also been 17 draws.
  • The Foals have won more Bundesliga games against Köln (52) than any other opponent, and have also scored the most goals against them (189).
  • Köln have also suffered their most Bundesliga defeats against Borussia, although they have lost just one of the last six (four wins, one draw).
  • Just six players have been sent off in the 97 Rhine Derbies so far. Manu Koné became the first Borussia player to receive a red card in the fixture in our 3-1 defeat earlier this season.

STATISTICS

  • The Foals have an impressive home record, having won 18 of their 26 points this season at BORUSSIA-PARK and having lost just one of their last nine home games (2-1 to FC Augsburg on Matchday 18).
  • The Foals break away quickly. Just two teams have scored more goals from counterattacks than them (36).
  • Nathan Ngoumou’s equaliser in the 1-1 draw in Mainz last time out came from a header. It was the Foals’ 11th headed goal already this Bundesliga season – only Bayern have scored more. Conversely, Köln have scored just two – fewer than any other team.
  • The Billy Goats have picked up just three wins in their 24 Bundesliga games this season, their fewest ever at this point of a season.
  • Just two sides have had fewer shots on goal than Köln this season (275). On top of that, only Mainz have a worse shot conversion rate. On average, just one in 17 of the Billy Goats’ efforts on goal has gone in.

  • Felix Zwayer will be the referee. His assistants will be Stefan Lupp and Marco Achmüller, with Timo Gerach as the fourth official. Benjamin Brand and Thorsten Schiffner will be on VAR duty.
