Plea and Čvančara partially integrated as smaller group train this week

A smaller group of Foals are training this week in the absence of the ten players who have been called up by their respective national teams. Alassane Plea and Tomáš Čvančara are currently being partially integrated.

It will be slightly quieter on the training pitch this week after ten Borussia players were called up by their respective national teams. The group that head coach Gerardo Seoane will be working with over the next few days currently consists of 14 first-team players. The Swiss has also called into action one or two players from Borussia’s U23s.

Alassane Plea (bruised foot) and Tomáš Čvančara (ankle ligament tear) are now taking their first steps back into team training. “For both of them, it’s a case of partial integration without any physical contact. They’re getting used to being on the ball again through simple passing and ball control drills,” said Seoane. Neither will feature in the friendly match against KAS Eupen on Thursday afternoon. The same goes for Jordan, who picked up a knock to his lower leg in Heidenheim and is currently training individually. Simon Walde, who suffered an injury in an U23 game, will be unavailable for the time being because of a high ankle sprain.

Omlin set to return in goal

Captain Jonas Omlin, meanwhile, will be back between the sticks for the first time since his shoulder surgery. “We’re expecting Jonas to start on Thursday,” confirmed Seoane. The starting lineup for the game will be composed primarily of players who have been short of competitive minutes in recent weeks. “In principle, all of the players we have available will be used, but of course guys like Tony Jantschke, Chris Kramer and Patrick Herrmann will be getting more playing time,” said Seoane.

The Foals will train again on Wednesday at 10:30 CET, before their friendly against Belgian top-flight side KAS Eupen on Thursday at the FohlenPlatz (13:00 CET, live on our YouTube channel). Recovery sessions are planned for behind closed doors on Friday. There is no training planned for Saturday or Sunday.
