Foals prepare for home game against Union Berlin

On Tuesday morning, the Foals kicked off their preparations for the home game against Union Berlin. Manu Koné was partially integrated into team training, while Max Wöber was missing due to injury.

The players were in attendance at the club’s annual general meeting on Monday evening, and picked up some important advice that they will take into the final few games of the season. “I think it’s a good thing that the team were there, because it showed that they contribute to the sense of togetherness at the club,” said head coach Gerardo Seoane, whose side began a new week of training on Tuesday morning.

Union Berlin travel to BORUSSIA-PARK on Sunday (15:30 CEST) for the Foals’ penultimate home game of the Bundesliga season. There is still a lot of uncertainty around which players will be available it the weekend. Max Wöber picked up a minor thigh strain in the closing stages of the 4-3 defeat to TSG Hoffenheim, and is currently unable to train with the team. Jonas Omlin (thigh problems) and Franck Honorat (knee ligament strain), who missed the game in Hoffenheim, also didn’t take part in team training. “We’ll have to see how both of them develop day by day,” said Seoane.

“A step forwards”

Manu Koné, who has missed the last three weeks with a thigh strain, was partially integrated on Tuesday. “Manu has made a big step forwards,” said Seoane. “We’ll see how he develops over the next few days.” Meanwhile, Jordan (recovery training after a thigh strain), Tony Jantschke (adductor problems), Grant-Leon Ranos (ankle injury), Chris Kramer (illness) and Simon Walde (high ankle sprain) also remain out.

Seoane’s team will train from 11:00 CEST on both Wednesday and Thursday. Spectators will be welcome at both these sessions, as well as at the talent training at 15:00 CEST on Wednesday. The last two sessions before the Union game on Friday and Saturday (both 11:00 CEST) will take place behind closed doors.
