Home game against Real Madrid to take place behind closed doors

Borussia’s Champions League home game against Real Madrid tomorrow evening (21:00 CET) will take place behind closed doors.

The Foals will have to play their first Champions League home game this season against Real Madrid (21:00 CET) behind closed doors. The decision has been reached in compliance with a directive from the district government of Düsseldorf.

Initially, 10,804 fans were permitted to attend the match at BORUSSIA-PARK, with the match being sold-out. Last week, the local health and regulatory agency of the city of Mönchengladbach had reduced the number of fans permitted to attend to 300, with the stadium initially being allowed to open at 20 per cent of its seated capacity.

Now, the decision has been reached to have the game take place behind closed doors. The seven-day infection rate in Mönchengladbach, which measures how many new reported infections of Covid-19 there are per 100,000 inhabitants, is currently sitting at 94.2.
