Sommer suspended for two games

Yann Sommer has been suspended for Borussia’s next two Bundesliga games following his red card against Hertha on Saturday.

The DFB’s disciplinary board have issued a two-match ban for Yann Sommer due to unsportsmanlike conduct. The Gladbach goalkeeper will therefore miss the upcoming Bundesliga games against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday (15:30 CEST) and away at TSG Hoffenheim the following Wednesday (20:30 CEST). He is also suspended from league fixtures for any of the club’s other teams during this period.

The Foals’ number one was sent off by referee Patrick Ittrich (Hamburg) for a professional foul on Jhon Córdoba in the 13th minute of Saturday’s draw with Hertha Berlin. Tobias Sippel was subbed on for Oscar Wendt to replace the Switzerland international between the sticks.
