Wendt: "I love this club"

After the 4-2 win in Bremen, Oscar Wendt spoke to the press about the season gone by and his departure after a decade at Borussia. The Swede on…

…his last appearance for the Foals: The coach told me before the game that I would get to feature – no matter how the game was going. I am really happy and grateful that I was able to play a few more minutes with the lads in my final game after ten years here. The final minutes and the time in the dressing room after the game were really emotional for me.

…saying goodbye after ten years with Borussia: Everyone who knows me knows what these ten years have meant and what they will always mean. It's been a wonderful time for me. I love Borussia, the area, the fans and the boys that I share the pitch with each day. This club will always remain in my heart.

...the quarantine training camp: I actually wasn't too happy about the ten day quarantine camp, but looking back I have to say that it did me a lot of good. I was able to use the week and a half to spend time with the boys once more. It's been a really emotional few days. I am really sad to leave Borussia, but I've taken the decision to return home as that's what is best for my family.

…the 2020/21 season: It's a real shame that we have missed out on European competition because that's where Borussia belong. Looking at the whole season, we just weren't consistent enough. We had some highs but also too many lows. We delivered some great performances but there were too many matches where we simply weren't good enough and so we didn't achieve our goals in the end. That's a big disappointment for us. I'm sure that the boys will attack again next season, though, and that they'll manage to be successful again in the future.
