Wendt named Borussia Player of the Month for May

Oscar Wendt has been named as Borussia’s Player of the Month for May, presented by Cichon Personalmanagement. The Foals have chosen to give the award to Wendt this month to recognise his outstanding service to the club.

Oscar Wendt has remained faithful to Borussia for ten years – and such loyalty shouldn't be taken for granted given the constantly changing world of modern football. So it was no question that the Swede deserved the May Player of the Month award following his last minutes of action in a Gladbach shirt. The Foals decided to forego the usual fan vote for the award and hand the prize to Wendt automatically this time around.

After a total of 305 competitive games, in which the left-back scored 19 goals, Wendt said goodbye to Borussia last Saturday. He goes into the history books as the foreign player with the most appearances for the club. “It was a wonderful time for me. I love Borussia,” said Wendt ahead of his return to hometown club IFK Gothenburg.

Eight different players will now be in the running for our Player of the Season award. Alongside Wendt, the other candidates are Patrick Herrmann, Jonas Hofmann, Florian Neuhaus, Lars Stindl, Nico Elvedi, Ramy Bensebaini and Tobias Sippel. The vote begins on Monday on the FohlenApp.
