Pre-season to begin on 3rd July – fans allowed to attend

The Foals will begin pre-season under new head coach Adi Hütter on 3rd July. Four friendlies have already been scheduled, with fans allowed to attend as well as training sessions.

Borussia will begin their preparations for the 2021/22 season on Saturday, 3rd July. New head coach Adi Hütter will lead his first session at BORUSSIA-PARK from 10:30 CEST. Training on Sunday, 4th July will also take place in the stadium at the same time. All training sessions from Monday, 5th July will be on the training ground – all times will be on the club’s website.

Two more friendlies arranged

Having already had friendlies scheduled against Viktoria Köln (10th July at 15:30 CEST) and SC Paderborn (17th July at 15:00 CEST), the Foals have now arranged two more. Borussia will take on French side FC Metz on the training ground at 15:30 CEST on 24th July and Dutch outfit FC Groningen on 31st July at BORUSSIA-PARK in the final match before the season kicks off.

Fans will be permitted to attend all three friendlies in Mönchengladbach, with a maximum of 999 spectators allowed in to watch the Foals face Viktoria Köln at the Grenzlandstadion, as well as 600 fans for the game against FC Metz at the FohlenPlatz and up to 18,000 fans at BORUSSIA-PARK for the game against FC Groningen.

The friendlies against Viktoria Köln and FC Metz currently do not require fans to provide a negative coronavirus test. The match against Groningen, however, fans would currently have to present either a negative Covid-19 test or proof of having been fully vaccinated or having recovered from Covid-19 to enter the stadium. Tickets for each of these matches will be available as of Monday, 5th July on the ticketing portal on the club's website. Tickets are available for €10 each (€5 for concessions).

Fans able to attend training again

Attendance is now also possible at training sessions under the current coronavirus regulations, provided certain regulations are met. Under the current regulations, a record must be kept of attendance at training sessions and games. As such, fans must book a ticket online on the Borussia website prior to attending any training sessions. Tickets are available free of charge and can be booked as of Tuesday, 29th June.

  • Saturday, 31st July: Friendly vs. FC Groningen (15:30 CEST at BORUSSIA-PARK)
Adi Hütter's first training session will be on 3rd July.
Fans can return to see their team this pre-season.

Emotional send offs for Jantschke and Herrmann

Any lingering doubts about Borussia not remaining in the Bundesliga next season have dissolved away following the 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt. The match against Frankfurt was also marked by send-offs for Tony Jantschke and Patrick Herrmann.

Borussia and Frankfurt share the points in a hard-fought encounter

On Matchday 33 of the Bundesliga, Borussia drew 1-1 with Eintracht Frankfurt in their final home game of the season. Eric Dina Ebimbe cancelled out Robin Hack’s early opener.
