Patrick Herrmann to retire from playing in the summer
Patrick Herrmann will retire from playing in the summer after 16 years at Borussia, including 15 as a member of the first team. The 33-year-old will remain at Gladbach in a non-playing capacity.
Borussia loan Quizera out to Academico Viseu
Borussia forward Famana Quizera has joined Portuguese second-tier side Academico Viseu on a one-year loan deal.
There was some late movement in the transfer market on Tuesday evening just before the window closed: Borussia’s Famana Quizera is off to Academico Viseu in his home country, where he will spend the rest of the season on loan. The Portuguese second-tier side have obtained an option-to-buy clause for the 19-year-old.
Quizera joined Gladbach in the summer of 2018 from the Benfica youth academy, and despite spending most of pre-season with Adi Hütter’s team he did not make the final cut into the pro squad.
For the Borussia youth (FohlenStall), he has picked up nine Bundesliga appearances for the U17s (11 goals), 13 for the U19s (4 goals) and 30 Regionalliga appearances (4 goals) for the U23s. Quizera also made the first team squad on seven occasions at the end of the 2019/20 Bundesliga season.
