Preparations begin for Greuther Fürth

The Foals began training with a small group of players present today. Those away on international duty will slowly return to BORUSSIA-PARK over the coming days.

Borussia have begun preparing for the upcoming Bundesliga home game against SpVgg Greuther Fürth on Saturday (15:30 CET). Over the course of the nearly 90-minute long session, head coach Adi Hütter guided his side through a series of drills and a small-sided game. Stefan Lainer was able to take part in the full session, after having returned to team training for the first time last week. Michael Wentzel and Tom Gaal from the U23s were also part of the group.

Matthias Ginter, Florian Neuhaus, Jonas Hofmann (all Germany), Yann Sommer, Denis Zakaria (both Switzerland), Joe Scally (USA), Ramy Bensebaini (Algeria), Luca Netz (Germany U21s) and Conor Noß (Ireland U21s) will all return from international duty this week. Nico Elvedi (ankle/foot ligament injury), Breel Embolo and Jordan Beyer (both thigh muscle injuries) all missed out due to injury. Tony Jantschke (facial injury), Christoph Kramer (thigh issue) and Mamadou Doucouré (Achilles tear) did not take part in team training, but instead completed an individual rehab session on the pitch.

The Foals will have four more training sessions this weekend before welcoming Greuther Fürth to BORUSSIA-PARK. They will train twice on Wednesday, at 10:30 CET and in the afternoon (behind closed doors), before two more closed door sessions on Thursday and Friday.
