Koné joins training, Scally and Doucouré test positive

The Foals continued their preparations for the second half of the season on Thursday with two training sessions. Manu Koné was back on board, although Marcus Thuram sat out with a cold.

The Bundesliga restarts in just eight days for the Foals with a trip to league leaders FC Bayern München on Friday, 7th January (20:30 CET).  Preparations for the second half of the season have been underway since yesterday for Adi Hütter’s side, continuing on Thursday with two more sessions.

While Manu Koné was able to join in with team training after returning a negative Covid-19 test, there were positive results for Joe Scally and Mamadou Doucouré. The pair must now enter quarantine, much like Denis Zakaria and Keanan Bennetts following their earlier positive tests. All four players are doing well, however.

Beyer training individually

Marcus Thuram has returned a negative test, but the Frenchman is currently sitting out with a cold. Meanwhile, Jordan Beyer (thigh) worked individually. Jonas Hofmann will begin his rehab soon following arthroscopic knee surgery. Ramy Bensebaini is also absent as he has joined up with Algeria for the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon (9th January to 6th February).

The Foals train again at 10:30 CET tomorrow, but they’ll get to enjoy New Year’s Day off. The first training session of 2022 follows on Sunday, 2nd January at 10:30 CET.
