Hofmann: “Heading in the right direction”

Jonas Hofmann broke down the 1-1 draw with Arminia Bielefeld with the press. The Borussia midfielder discussed…

…being satisfied with a point: I'm rather torn over that. On the one hand we can go home feeling positive after picking up a point, but on the other hand it is just the single point and our aim is always to take three home from Bielefeld. But in our current situation we have to be satisfied with a point, especially because you saw how we had to fight. So in the end the good probably outweighs the bad.

...clawing back an early deficit: Our reaction to that freak goal by Janni Serra was really good. We didn't let our heads drop, we immediately fought back. At times we combined well and created chances of our own. It was important for us to grab the equaliser in the first half, and we fully deserved to do so.

...the second half: After the change of ends we really just continued to do what we had done at the end of the first half. Apart from one or two exceptions, we defended well and had a clear plan of attack. We remained the more flexible and creative side – and that is something we can build upon. Even if it wasn't enough to earn the win in the end, we are heading in the right direction nonetheless. If we keep doing what we're doing, we will get three points again soon.

...the importance of scoring first: It would've been nice to go ahead ourselves and to possibly even keep a clean sheet again. Unfortunately it's been a while since we did that. Clean sheets mean that even a 1-0 lead is enough. I wouldn't mind if we could pull that off next weekend in an important game against Augsburg.
