Match facts ahead of #BVBBMG

Everything you need to know about the Foals’ upcoming Bundesliga match at home to Borussia Dortmund on Sunday (17:30 CET).

Spectators

  • According to current Coronavirus protection measures, 10,000 spectators will be allowed into Signal-Iduna-Park (Photo: DFL/Getty Images/Scheuber) for the match. The Foals were given 500 away tickets, all of which have been sold.
  • Fans attending the game will have to comply with the “2G-Plus” rule (fully vaccinated or recovered, plus a negative test or booster vaccination) and wear a mask throughout. Children yet to start school are exempt from these measures.

Head-to-head record:

  • This will be the 100th meeting between Dortmund and Gladbach. The current tale of the tape gives the Foals 31 wins to Dortmund’s 40, with the remaining 28 games ending in draws.
  • After losing 11 Bundesliga games in a row against BVB, the Foals have secured back-to-back wins in the last two meetings between the clubs, a 4-2 win in January 2021 followed by a 1-0 win at BORUSSIA-PARK earlier this season.
  • BVB have won each of their last seven home games against Borussia in the Bundesliga, with 21 goals scored and just three conceded.
  • There has not been a single goalless draw in a game between Dortmund and Mönchengladbach in their last 52 meetings in all competitions. The last 0-0 in a game between the two sides came in April 1994 at the Bölkelberg. Matches between Borussia and BVB have an average of 3.31 goals per game.

Statistics – presented by UNIBET:

  • The Foals have taken four points out of their last two matches, a 1-1 draw away to Bielefeld and a 3-2 win at home to Augsburg. That gives them a record of two wins and losses and one draw in the Rückrunde.
  • Borussia are unbeaten against Germany’s traditional top two teams this season. They have recorded three wins and one draw against BVB and FC Bayern in all competitions in 2021/22.
  • Dortmund were well-beaten by Bayer Leverkusen at home (5-2), but hit back the following weekend with a strong 3-0 win against Union Berlin to close the gap at the top of the Bundesliga to six points.
  • BVB are also one of the most dangerous sides at home in terms of goals; they have scored at least two goals in every Bundesliga game at Signal-Iduna-Park this season.
  • Both sides have full-backs who love a goal in their ranks: Ramy Bensebaini bagged his third of the season against Augsburg, whilst BVB’s Raphaël Guerreiro found the net for the fourth time in their win against Union Berlin.
  • There will be several returnees on Sunday: current BVB head coach Marco Rose was in charge of the Foals until the end of last season. As well as him, several former Foals will be facing their old side in the form of Mo Dahoud, Thorgan Hazard, Marco Reus and Nico Schulz. Former BVB players who will be visiting their old stomping ground include Matthias Ginter and Jonas Hofmann.
