Alassane Plea, Matthias Ginter, Luca Netz or Yann Sommer – who will be Borussia’s player of the month for March? The Foals were in action three times in the Bundesliga this month, with Yann Sommer and Alassane Plea receiving player of the match awards in two games. Also up for the POTM award are Luca Netz and Matthias Ginter based on their impressive performances in recent games.

Yann Sommer: TheBorussia goalkeeper was voted player of the match by fans after the 3-2 away defeat against VfB Stuttgart on matchday 25. Sommer received almost 70% of all votes and produced several good saves to prevent what would have been an even higher scoreline and was blameless for each of the three goals scored by the home side.

Alassane Plea: Several Borussia players were in with a shout for the player of the match award after the 2-0 victory over Hertha BSC, but the French forward, who won player of the month in February, continued his string of good performances to edge out his teammates, receiving around 30% of votes. Plea gave the Foals the lead from the penalty spot after ten minutes and was involved in the team’s build-up play throughout the game.

Matthias Ginter: The 28-year-old made an important contribution to the team’s success in March. His solid defensive work ensured that the Foals kept a clean sheet against Hertha BSC, and were on course for the same against Bochum until the game was abandoned in the 68th minute. Ginter was also on the scoresheet this month, scoring the team’s second goal in the 2-0 win against Hertha.

Luca Netz: After coming off the bench in the closing minutes against VfB Stuttgart, Luca Netz was named in the starting XI for the home game against his former club Hertha BSC and the away game against VfL Bochum. The defender was solid at the back and also a threat at the other end of the pitch from corners. After providing the assist for Matthias Ginter’s goal in the win over Hertha, Netz also set up Breel Embolo’s opening goal in the game against Bochum. The 18-year.old now had four assists to his name in the Bundesliga this season.
