Noß: "I can feel the trust of the coaching team"

Forward Conor Noß speaks in an interview about the Foals’ performance in the 1-1 home draw against Mainz, his second Bundesliga appearance for the club and Yann Sommer’s "unbelievable" saves.

Conor, let’s start with the positives. You were able to get about 30 minutes of game time against Mainz. How was it?

Conor Noß: It makes me really happy to have played my second game. It’s a reward for the hard work that I invest every day. I can feel the trust of the coaching team and I’ve always got good feedback in recent weeks. I was well prepared and of course I was really happy that I got the chance.

The Mainz game saw around 44,200 fans back at BORUSSIA-PARK for the first time in a long time. How did you perceive the atmosphere in the stands?

Noß: I was lucky to make my Bundesliga debut against Greuther Fürth in front of 38,000 fans. That was a similar atmosphere then, but of course, a full BORUSSIA-PARK is tough to top.

What did you make of the team’s performance?

Noß: We had the ball moving around well in the first half. We played some good passes and created a lot of chances. It was a bit more difficult after the break; we had more to deal with. Mainz are a very robust team. There were a lot of aerial battles and that’s what they’re good at. As an attacker, obviously I had hoped that we’d create a bit more going forward and of course I wanted to score the winner. All in all though, I’m pleased that we got the point.

We also have Yann Sommer to thank…

Noß: Definitely. I’ve already thanked him. The save that he made in the 89th minute is really unbelievable. I had a great view of that chance and could just see it going in. But then he pulled out that reflex save and stops it – that was crazy and you have to take your hat off to him.

We weren’t able to get the win against Mainz. The next chance to pick up three points is on Saturday (15:30 CEST) away against SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

Noß: Exactly. Our focus is now completely on the Fürth game. We want to go there and get the three points.

Noß replaced captain Lars Stindl in the 63rd minute.
It was Noß's second competitive game for the club.
