Scally: “I want to keep developing and help the team”

Joe Scally answered questions for the journalists who attended today’s press conference in Tegernsee. We bring you the most important quotes.

Joe Scally on...

…his summer vacation after making his debut for the USMNT: It's been a fantastic time. I was with my family and my girlfriend in Florida and then the Bahamas. It was a really beautiful trip. But now I'm back in Germany and ready to get to work ahead of the new season.

…his first impressions of Daniel Farke: I really like him. He is a really good coach and he speaks perfect English from his time with Norwich City. That's really nice for me; it just makes communicating much easier. He has his own philosophy, his own style. I'm really looking forward to working with him.

…his first season in the Bundesliga: It was quite a good season for me personally, I think. I featured much more often than I had expected and I was able to learn a lot. I want to build on that and keep improving.

…the USA’s chances at the Qatar World Cup: I think we've been given a strong group. If we manage to make it through and progress then anything is possible. We will see how far we go.

…his nomination for the Golden Boy Award: Obviously I am proud to be nominated. When you see who has won the award in the past, it's just a massive honour.

…his expectations for the season ahead: I hope that I can help the team to achieve a better league position than last season. And then I obviously want to be on the pitch for as many games as possible. I'm really hungry to learn and I want to keep developing and help the team. If I am then able to travel to the World Cup with my national team then it would be an extraordinary season for me.
