Another intense week of training for the Foals

Gladbach’s pre-season is coming to a close, but a tough week of training and two more friendlies lie ahead.

After completing the Media Day at BORUSSIA-PARK, the Foals entered their fourth week of pre-season training on Tuesday afternoon. It was a sweaty session in the soaring summer heat, with temperatures in excess of 38 degrees. The heat, however, didn’t stop head coach Daniel Farke putting his team through their paces: “We’re still in the thick of our preparations, so it’ll be an intense week of training,” explained the boss.

Five more sessions

Five more training sessions await the Foals this week. The sessions on Wednesday 10:45 CEST, Thursday 10:45 CEST, and Sunday 11:00 CEST will take place in the stadium and the sessions on Thursday afternoon and Friday will take place behind closed doors. Gladbach are also set to take on Dutch first division side RKC Waalwijk at the IMS Arena in Velbert tomorrow evening (18:30 CEST, live on FohlenTV). The box office in Velbert is open from 17:00 CEST. Following this, Farke’s side will face La Liga side Real Sociedad at BORUSSIA-PARK on Saturday (15:30 CEST). Tickets for this game are available on the online portal. Gladbach’s season gets underway eight days later against SV Oberachern, in the first round of the DFB-Pokal.

Bensebaini back in team training

Yann Sommer and Christoph Kramer, who were rested for last Sunday’s “CUP DER TRADITIONEN,” are expected to return to the side against Waalwijk. Ramy Bensebaini returned to team training today, as did Stefan Lainer and Lars Stindl, meaning they could all be options for the remaining pre-season fixtures. Manu Koné (rehabilitation training), Jordan Beyer (slight muscle injury) and Nico Elvedi (slight capsular injury) look set to miss out tomorrow.
