Foals begin training this week with several players back from injury

The Foals started training this week on Wednesday morning, with several players including Manu Koné and Jordan Beyer returning from injury.

After two days off, Borussia trained hard in preparation for their first round Pokal game on Sunday (15:30 CEST) against fifth tier SV Oberachern. “Our focus in training is chosen to fit with the fact we play on Sunday. At the moment, we are talking much more about us and not so much about our opponents, but this will definitely change over the course of the week,” said Farke.

Farke was able to welcome Alassane Plea back onto the training pitch for the first time since the striker received a blow to his calf against Sociedad.  Also returning were Christoph Kramer, Marcus Thuram and Nico Elvedi, who all had to be substituted in the second half against the Spanish side due to knocks. “We have used the last 72 hours to recharge our batteries. In this time lots of the players with knocks have made good progress,” Farke said.

Herrmann receives knee injection

There was more good news on the injury front as both Manu Koné and Jordan Beyer were able to participate in the first part of team training after a long spell on the sidelines. “With Manu we had planned that he would take some part today. Jordan had made strong progress in the last couple of days so that we could reintegrate him today as well,” said Farke. The injury list today now only reads Hannes Wolf (thigh injury), Marvin Friedrich (minor thigh strain) and Patrick Herrmann. Farke added: “With him [Hermann] it was planned that he would receive an injection after the last friendly so that his knee can better recover. I’m hopeful that he will be able to rejoin us soon”.

Jordan Beyer took part in the first part of training before doing some running.
Marcus Thuram - like Alassane Plea, Nico Elvedi and Christoph Kramer - is back from injury.
