Match Facts Ahead Of #BMGTSG

Here is everything you need to know ahead of our first home game of the season against TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday (15:30 CEST).

Supporters

  • At this point, around 46,000 tickets have been sold for the first game of the new Bundesliga season.

 Head-to-head record

  • Sunday’s game will be the 29th Bundesliga meeting between the two clubs. Hoffenheim have a slender lead in the overall series, with 9 wins to Borussia’s 8. 11 games have ended in a draw.
  • Both teams have featured continuously in the Bundesliga since their joint promotion in 2008. Only four teams have been in the league for a longer unbroken stretch (Bayern, Dortmund, Leverkusen and Wolfsburg).
  • Five of the last nine Bundesliga meetings have ended in a draw – the two wins by the foals in this time were significant though, with a 3-0 away win in September 2019 and a 5-1 victory at home on the last day of last season. 84 days later the two teams meet at the same ground once again.

Statistics

  • Borussia lost only one of their last nine games at the backend of last season, while Hoffenheim are winless in their last nine (three draws, six losses).
  • This is the second time the two clubs have met on the first day of the season, with the Foals winning the previous game ten years ago 2-1. Take a look back at this and other opening days of the season in Borussia’s history.
  • Seven of 18 Bundesliga clubs go into the season with a new head coach, with two of them meeting at the BORUSSIA-PARK. Daniel Farke is making his debut as a Bundesliga head coach, while for Hoffenheim André Breitenreiter is in his fourth spell as a Bundesliga coach after stints at SC Paderborn, Schalke 04 and Hannover 96.
  • Marcus Thuram, who celebrates his 25th birthday on the day of the game, scored three goals in 23 games last season – he has already reached this tally for the 2022/23 season after his DFB-Pokal hat-trick against Oberachern.
