Match facts ahead of the DFB-Pokal clash in Darmstadt

Everything you need to know ahead of the Foals’ DFB-Pokal second round match against SV Darmstadt on Tuesday evening (20:45 CEST).

Spectators:

  • The Stadion at Böllenfalltor is sold out (15,850 fans). Around 1,300 Borussia fans will support the Foals in the ground.

Head-to-head record:

  • The Foals and the Lilies have only met once in the DFB-Pokal up until now. In the first round of the 2013/14 season, Darmstadt were the side who progressed to the next round. They won 5-4 on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes of normal and additional time.
  • In the Bundesliga, there have been eight meetings between the two side, of which Borussia have won half. There have been three other draws. Darmstadt’s sole win came in the first contest between the clubs back in the 1978/79 season.

  • Lars Stindl has scored nine times in 20 cup games for the Foals. As such, he is the highest Pokal goalscorer within the current squad.

Statistics:

  • Borussia have won the DFB-Pokal three times, most recently in 1995. Since then, the Foals have been in the final twice more. Last season, Borussia were knocked out in the quarter-final following a 3-0 defeat to Hannover 96.
  • Borussia progressed out of the first round with a 9-1 battering of SV Oberachern. SV Darmstadt beat third division side FC Ingolstadt 3-0.

Match officials:

  • Robert Schröder from Hannover will officiate the game. He will be supported by linesmen Jan Clemens Neitzel and Christian Dietz. The fourth official will be Dr. Robert Kampka. There is no video assistant referee in the second round of the DFB-Pokal.
