Borussia’s new Performance Centre officially opened on Wednesday afternoon

Borussia’s new Performance Centre was officially opened at BORUSSIA-PARK on Wednesday afternoon. This will now be the site where the first team and youth teams will complete their fitness training.

Borussia’s new Performance Centre, which was being constructed on the site of the player’s car park in recent weeks, is now in operation. The centre will be used for everything from athletics training, injury prevention and rehabilitation, to performance diagnostics, video analysis and team meetings. “We were previously limited space wise for fitness work, so we couldn’t work effectively with the whole group. The Performance Centre now offers us that possibility at a very high level. The first team as well as the youth teams can now use the space when they need it throughout the day,” explained sporting director Roland Virkus.

The Performance Centre is split into different areas. The front area contains a meeting room, offices for the coaching staff and an area where video analysis can take place. In the next area, there is a 30-metre-long running strip made from synthetic turf, where the athletics coaches can take readings from the players under the same conditions every time. Because the athletics training of the goalkeepers differs from that of the outfield players, they have been given a separate area for their sessions. Among other things, there is a jumping test station, where the players will be able to receive direct feedback. Directly next to that there is a rehabilitation area, where the injured players will be able to work on their recoveries, just as at Medical Park.

The biggest part of the Performance Centre is taken up by a large open space, where the players will now be able to complete their athletic, strength and conditioning training sessions. The area is fitted with new pieces of equipment and the latest modern technology. “The Performance Centre is a big step in the direction of modern fitness training, that will allow us to work more efficiently and in a more targeted manner,” explained Alexander Mouhcine, head of performance, prevention and rehabilitation.
